“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.” – 1 Timothy 6:7 (NKJV)
A Thought What a powerful verse. One that we all need to remember as we strive for worldly goods. We can’t take them with us. When I read this verse I am reminded of Jesus words, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. . . but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, . . . ” (Matthew 6:16) By sharing our blessings with others who are in need we are storing up our treasures in heaven. And since heaven in an eternity and life as we know it on earth is only a short time, should not our focus be on treasures for heaven?
A Prayer Dear Father,
We thank you for all the blessings we have. We appreciate all the good we have in our life. And we realize that all good comes from you. You are a great God and our thanks seems insufficient.
As it is stated in Matthew 6:18, please help us to store treasures in heaven rather than here on earth. We sometimes get caught up in the commercialism of this world and we need your help to guide us and show us how we can help others. Please, we pray, help us to walk as Jesus did. Let us be the light in this world that reflects your goodness.
In Jesus name we pray.
