A Door Slams

A Door Slams
“If a door slams shut it means that God is pointing to an open door further on down.” – Anna Delaney Peale

A Thought
We sometimes get discouraged when things do not turn out the way we think they should.  We feel deserted by God when we have plans and we are excited about them but we then have “that door closed in our face”. What we need to do is to trust that God has our best interests at heart and there is something better for us. God never leaves us, and He always cares, never doubt that!

A Prayer
Dear Father,

Thank you for the ability to pray to you and to say the things that are bothering me. I know you share in my disappointments but I also know you have plans that are better than any that I could have.

As you say in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”  While this was said many years ago I know Father that your words apply to my life today.  I pray that you help me not to give up hope, help me to look forward to the future you have for me.

The words in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 state, “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” Help me be thankful for that closed door as it only means that there is something better down the road.

Thank you Father for caring about me, for loving me, and for showing me your ways. You are an awesome God!
