A Thought
Unfortunately our culture promotes worldly goods and looking after “you first”. In many circles there is very little thought about others, there seems to be a very self-centered attitude emerging in our world. Imagine if we cared for others as Jesus instructed us, what a different world this would be. It could possibly like heaven in earth.
A Prayer
Dear Father,
Thank you for the gift of today, but I pray that you allow me to focus on heaven – on spending eternity with you.
Let our focus be on the words said by Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39: Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself.”
If I follow this commandment then my focus will be on heaven not on the things offered by this world. Help me to always remember to love just as you have always loved me.
And let me remember the words from 1 John 2:15: “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.”
In Jesus name I pray.
